No chance of her wanting to carry a revolver?

I think you should get her a pink one with flowers and sparkles on it.

All kidding aside if she is comfortable with semi autos a Glock 27 is a nice weapon.
I prefer the H&K compacts but they run a tad more expensive.

She's not fond of them. I think it would be ideal for her whereas IMO, revolvers tend to be more reliable...
Obviously mileage varries though.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Thats it! I think its a tad big for concealed carry but I am thinking it might just work on the hood of the car!
Look out traffic here I come!

if it has to be an autoloader than maybe check out the Ruger P series....not as sexy but built tougher than most like their revolvers. Shoot the most powerful caliber she can handle best with the 9mm the starting point. Alot of people like the .45 but I think you could go with a .40 also. With today's better brass and bullet type I would think a 9mm would be fine plus you can practice for much cheaper.....have you ruled out a smaller frame .357 mag that she can practice with .38 special ammo...the .357 125 gr jacketed hollow point is well known to have the best one shot stopping power of any round including the .44 mag

My wife loves her S&W 640. It is a hammerless five shot .357 magnum that slips into her pocket, or purse. Very easy for concealed carry and it doesnt snag on anything. She also carries a couple of speed loaders.

My choice for a woman would be a Walther PPK in either .32 Cal ,.38 Cal, or 9 mm. Pricey but very reliable.

There was an article a few years ago by Massad Ayyob on self-defense ammunition. IIRC, he recommended 9 mm 115grain/1400fps (i.e. hot +P+ round) soft/hollow point as an absolute minimum, with heavier 0.40S&W and 0.45 being preferable. In the case of a compact concealable firearm (i.e. shorter barrel) achieving high velocity would become even more problematic. One could overcome the velocity problem by using a really special ammunition (designed to deliver chemical and thermal shocks in addition to mechanical one), but that would land one accused of crimes against humanity. So, 40S&W would appear a reasonable choice.
