Last Friday when promoting social security reform with 'regular' citizens in Omaha, Nebraska, President Bush walked into an awkward unscripted moment in which he stated that carrying three jobs at a time is 'uniquely American.'
While talking with audience participants, the president met Mary Mornin, a woman in her late fifties who told the president she was a divorced mother of three, including a 'mentally challenged' son.
The President comforted Mornin on the security of social security stating that 'the promises made will be kept by the government.'
But without prompting Mornin began to elaborate on her life circumstances.
Begin transcript:
MS. MORNIN: That's good, because I work three jobs and I feel like I contribute.
THE PRESIDENT: You work three jobs?
MS. MORNIN: Three jobs, yes.
THE PRESIDENT: Uniquely American, isn't it? I mean, that is fantastic that you're doing that. (Applause.) Get any sleep? (Laughter.)

Are you Forrest Gump? LOL
"How the hell you gonna raise kids when both parents have to work 70 to 80 hours a week to pay the dam local, state and federal taxes?"
Johnny Gang and Uncle Crack will help raise the kids, no questions asked.
Oh, yeah, Auntie Preggers will assist also.
Oh heck no. That guy is way much smarter than me!
Her kids, obviously are not 'little.' I really take exception though to the tone with which you posted your reply. Would you be happy if she were on welfare? Then we have the welfare mom threads (but, hey they are home full time with their kids). Maybe she is making ends meet without any government hand outs...that is something to be proud of. Maybe doing what it takes to take care of your own is 'uniquely American.'
I had a full time job from the time I was 17 to the present and worked 12 days on the weekends from May to October at the flea market to get myself through college. My parents didn't pay for our college degrees......like the spoiled kids of today...
Well..then the parents better start giving up the cell phones, cable tv, internet connections, Ipods, $100 sneakers etc. so that they can stay home with their kids more. I had a barbie doll and a bike growing up......and my parents didn't have to think about filing bankruptcy. Kids today are SPOILED ROTTEN. I had chores too.
I'm sorry but I've never seen a gravestone with the inscription, "I wish I had spent more time at the office." This isn't uniquely American, this is uniquely idiotic (also, it's funny how nobody on this thread has mentioned the divorce cited in the article).
Cant argue with you on that point either.
But, Take a good long look at what workers paid in taxes in 1960 to 1965 and take a look at what they pay today.
So maybe the reason the parents of today buy their kids these things is because they feel a tad guilty that they are not able to be home?..and that maybe they buy them these things to try and keep them occupied while they are not at home?
What a shock my sister in-law had when she came home after a two day seminar and her eldest daughter had a party going on. Then, after clearing out the bums, she made an inspection and found several of those rubber thingys (used)laying around in, not only her daughters bedroom, but her own bedroon as well. Where is hubby? Well hubby is working and works an average of 12 to 14 hours a day. MOm works at least 10 a day. It aint cheap living in the burbs near a large city.
Haven't you heard about the Law of Comparative Advantage?! It is much cheaper to raise children in Latin America, in Africa and in the Muslims countries.
There is not reason to waste the resources - one should teach spoiled American workers the methods of contraception, free market virtues of abortion and alternative sexual life styles. New generations of workers should be imported - they will be much more docile, less uppity and their numbers will be easier to regulate.
Hey, somebody's gotta pay for all that foreign aid.
Well said.
Thank You
Testing new tagline
First, she's a divorced mother of three. If one is to assume anything, it would be that all three of her children were born in wedlock and prior to the divorce. Second, she says that she has a special needs child. I can't imagine that medical care for that child would be cheap, especially nowadays.
Perhaps you would advocate eugenics for both the child and the mother so they can't reproduce? Of course, nowadays Planned Parenthood supports the "new eugenics" where "defective" babies are murdered in the womb.
Can you please send me a VS model and a sample pair of underwear? I promise to return the underwear. Thanks!
Do you want a fresh pair or a used pair?
Doesn't matter, they should look good on my hardwood floor (red mahogany), be size SMALL and actually fit the model.

The woman is in her LATE 50's!
I hate it that any American has to work three jobs to get by, but I can't believe she has children of an age that they require a lot of attention.
It's hard to say how bad the situation is with such skimpy info.
"I wonder what he was expected to say?"
How about something to the affect that they are trying to help get more money into our pockets with tax "reform". I wonder if her jobs are some of the ones "americans don't want" to do?
