"My uncle ran the Pensacola Marine Base and flew both Presidents Jimmy Carter and Gerald Ford. He also served in Vietnam, and in Beirut he flew a helicopter to try and free the Iranian hostages. My grandfather served in World War II in Pearl Harbor at the time of the horrific bombings there. I also have a very good friend who is currently serving in Iraq."
This is the equivalent of... "some of my best friends are Black" right before the offensive comment comes from their lips.
My ONLY friends are Marines... OOH-RAH!! Gen Mattis!!
By the way the word Marine when describing a U.S. Marine... is always, Capitalized.
read: 'he tried to fly a helicopter and tried to free the Iranian hostages'...
Note, this civilian's credentials are "he has relatives that were in the military."
Plus he has taken the quote out of context.
What a putz
Why do liberals always end up with name calling when trying to formulate an argument? Are they all just suffering from extended adolescence or something? I really don't understand. I don't always see this when arguing with conservatives, but it invariably occurs when lefties attempt to put forth their side. What's up with that?
I assume that most readers of this site are aware enough and have a sense od proportion and common sense to see clearly that this is Casey Hoff's opinion, for whatever it's worth.
In my case it's worth zero or less, since it was gratuitously worded to serve his own purposes.
Taking any known terrorist at random, defined by what they do, not by what they say, and the whole cheap posturing disintegrates before our eyes.
Can't find words suitable for this punk.
Poor casey. No one loves him. He has to fall in with the losers/America haters to have someone to talk to. It must be a lonely life.
Stuffy, stilted, arrogant, self-righteous and puerile blatherings of those who take upon themselves the mantle of moral and intellectual superiority... gimmeabreak!
Go, General! Salute from the sidelines.
I AM CALLING YOU A LIAR. CARE TO RESPOND?
Personally, I don't want a military that doesn't enjoy doing their job and doing it well. Killing isn't something to be relished, unless it's killing the bad guys who behead, blow up innocent people and threatening my country. I don't want our troops to come home feeling guilty for doing their job.
What is a crypto-fascist?
I know many soldiers who would "love" to shoot someone like OBL.
Some, and I don't agree with this, even pray for war. There are those who join the military to play the game.
War is about killing and destroying. You can package it how you want, but its about making other people dead and making things broke (Thats the end state). Now you can be precise in targeting, selection of weapon matched against target, doctrine
to minimize collateral damage but the result is that the military goes somewhere because we plan on making people dead.
People who complain about his speech fall into one simple category. Pacifists. Even if they dont admit this to themselves, they are fundamentally opposed to killing because thats what the whole ruckus is about. He didnt say anything that is a war crime, or even morally objectionable. The pacifist sees this differently though. He locks on these words like a heat seeker. Ultimately the General spoke in plain words and stated the obvious. But its the reality of war which the pacifist opposes.
The General did what is expected of a Marine; he wasnt PC. But someone who thinks like him has is heart and priorities in the right place to lead men in battle.
Red6
No, Casey, you dumbass. He's NOT on par with the worst of the terrorists. He's KILLING people who would MURDER innocents. He enjoys his job. I don't see a problem.
Gah! Leftists piss me off.
What about you, Casey? No mention of your "service". Also, I find your family history in the military highly suspect since you name Pensacola as a Marine installation and no helicopters were flown out of Beirut for Operation Eagle Claw. Those were Marine MH53s flown from the decks of the USS Nimitz steaming in the Arabian Sea, far away from Beirut. Seems to me you're embellishing at best or outright lying to lend legitimacy to your ignorant rant against a man who knows of what he speaks.
Pensacola is a Navy base
and flew both Presidents Jimmy Carter and Gerald Ford. He also served in Vietnam, and in Beirut he flew a helicopter to try and free the Iranian hostages.
Operation Eagle Claw, the ill-fated Desert One mission, had nothing to do with Beirut. Snot-nosed Casey Hoff is most likely a liar.
This guy should strap on an M-4 and show us how its done. Until then, maybe he should STFU.
