Now versus later -- either way, stop her.

"I have some words of advice for the former first lady," Willey told NewsMax in November. "Remember the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth."

Wow. That's incredible.

Arthur Finkelstein is a hired political gun. Who's interests is he serving in doing this. Pataki has already announced he won't run for Senate, and I take him at his word. So who's behind this? Rudy? Someone else?

Rumors are that Pataki is considering a Presidential run in 2008.

Can someone get me the contact info for Finkelstein or Donohue?

Agreed, although I estimate his chances of securing the nomination, or the VP slot, at (to the sixth decimal) 0.000000.

But someone is going to be the Dem prez candidate in 2008. If Pataki has deluded himself into imagining he might be the Republican prez candidate, wouldn't he prefer to run against Hillary than against another, possibly stronger, opponent? So why would he want to knock her off in 2006?

I realize that this amounts to extreme, useless political speculation, buy hey!, we're political junkies here!

Have you got a link or reference to that quote?

Hard to believe a Berkeley Prof. would say such a thing.

We need some balance here. How about posting a negative bio of Hillary? ;-)

Who in the Dem camp come to mind when you speak of a "stronger opponent" for Pataki?

Godd question. Is Che Guevara still dead?

But seriously, perhaps someone like pro-life Tim Roemer of Indiana, relatively moderate Hispanic Sen. Salazar of Colorado, Lieberman, maybe even John Edwards, much as he makes my skin crawl.

Go to the FR search engine. Put in THE REAL HILLARY CLINTON. (archives, match all words, order by post time)

It was a widely circulated quote

Apparently it was not circulate enough, as I missed it. That is one that should be circulated a lot more!
