Suspension of Retired UN Employee Prompts Flurry of Suspensions Worldwide
Sevan NEW YORK, New York --- UN Secretary General, Kofi Anan, suspended Benon Sevan today for improprieties related to the multi-billion dollar oil-for-food scandal. The only problem was that Sevan retired last year, so it is unclear what the suspension really means. It does not impact his pension or current $1 salary.
News of the suspension gave fresh ideas to organizations worldwide that wished to discipline individuals no longer with their organization. Major League Baseball announced that it has suspended retired steroid user, Jose Canseco. "We take a strong stand on steroid use," said an MLB official. "This shows we're serious and that you will face major consequences. Once you retire."
Enron is currently discussing the suspension of former CEO Ken Lay. Governor Schwarzenegger is rumored to be in the process of suspending former Secretary of State, Kevin Shelley, who resigned last week for various scandals. The newly elected Iraqi government is also planning to suspend Saddam Hussein as their first order of business.
Too funny.
This is really frustrating to read.
So: who suspends Kofi.
And they wonder why we don't want to give them more money.
Yet another pass-the-buck attempt on Kofi's part.
It means not only are the UN and Kofi Annan corrupt, they are incompetent.
