The bigotry of the left is one of the last remaining dinosaurs.

Professors, no matter their political views, ought to act like professionals and refrain from political sloganeering in the workplace.

Don't hold your breath! Fortunately, this professor's generation is nearing retirement, and will soon lose their captive audience. They will have to join the loons over at DU to have their "free speech" heard.

It would have made a better story if the veteran had taken down this a-holes 15 political statements and carried them to the office and shoved them up the professors butt.

If Calchera’s door had been plastered with anti-woman slogans, a student would have won easily.

The hypocrisy of the left knows no bounds.

My son did a study unit on President Bush for his Grade 11 first term assignment.

To the teacher's credit, he gave my son an 80. He commented that although he disagreed with some of what my son had said, he thought it was well-done and admired his passion.

That's pretty good for Canada!

Keene State Professor . . . was creating an atmosphere that amounted to harassment of veterans.
Tax-funded harassment of veterans. Sounds legit to me! </sarcasm>

Stowell, in turn, has filed a complaint with the ACLU, saying, “I was investigated because of my political views because someone objected to them, and that’s frightening.”

What's frightening to me is this guy's confusion.
The "free speech" right to proclaim comes with a price, albeit a small one in this case, someone might actually object.
Imagine that! What an insulated jerk!

Sometimes fear is a good thing, it teaches us. But unfortunately the "fright" that the liberal propagandist Stowell is experiencing doesn't lead to understanding because at its root is his inability to intimidate this student.

I ran into one of these "Useful Idiots" on Campus about 40 years ago. That time is was the commie thingy! He opened his mouth once and I rebutted him because I was brash and did not know better but I guess my colorful language about "commies" rung his bell!

Maybe all these guys and gals are related. aka Ward Churchill.
Doubt he ever went to church and he is dang sure "ill"!

This is a little off topic but my 15 year old daughter is in a private Christian school and brought home a book from history class that had the name "mapplethorpe" on the cover. I picked the book up and started reading some of the most vile, deviant behavior graphically described. I've been throwing a huge fit but the school defends the book, saying the book describes what is not Christian art. Huh? I've gotten some more parents involved and hopefully this book will disappear. I'm really at a loss, I can't believe I'm even having this argument with the school.

There is a huge difference between stating your views on your own time and using public property and a position of authority to badger people whose academic destinies you partially control.
My wife is going to school at Rutgers and I regularly hear stories from her and her friends of writing assignments that obviously are a form of political testing. Say the right thing, or kiss your tuition goodbye. It's not openly stated... but who's going to take a risk when all they want to do is graduate and move on... not get into arguments with the leftist loonies who run the place.

Ah and there's the rub. I have taught part time off and on for years at several major universities. Most college professors are truculent, childish, selb-absorbed elites that are never happier than when dening other people the same rights that they abuse every day.

"No, professor, you were investigated because you used your position to create a climate of fear."

A very, very, very slippery slope. You better be careful when you make remarks like this.

What goes around, comes around.

The sleeping tiger is awakening. Who'd a thunk it? If we could just get Churchill caned or otherwise neutralized, we might be able to start a little avalanche.

When my daughter was in private Christian high school, I went in about the sex ed program.

It was unbelievable. Very graphic, quite vulgar. This was given to a sweet, innocent, 15 year old girl.

I told them there was no way she needed ANY of that information. She was allowed, instead, to watch and write about Joshua Harris's videos on Finding True Love.

It was a wise decision that I don't regret. Keep after them. Maplethorpe in a Christian school? Or any other school, for that matter? How nuts is that???!!!

That "reason" actually sounds pretty lame. As if you need to show kids that to teach them what is NOT Christian art. Any kid can tell you in a heartbeat what is not Christian art. I'd have the teacher checked out.

"...professors ought to consider the effect their proselytizing might have on students..."

Ha! Little do they know. Their behavior to me in the 70's, just like this by the way, shoved me in the OTHER direction. I don't think it was only MY reaction either. Keep it up guys!
