The A-holes who inhabit those areas inside of Rt. 128 and keep re-electing these two boobs, do not represent the views of regular voting Massachusetts residents. I never have voted for a Dem and would sooner pull the pin on a grenade lodged in Fat Teddy's mouth than vote for him.
I gotta say... As a southern boy from New Orleans whose first USAF assignement was at Hanscom AFB... Mass is actually a pretty cool state and the scenery is awesome. I made plenty of non kool aid sipping friends up there and still have some to this day!
I have no idea how people like Kennedy and sKerry get elected when the people are pretty stable good guys!
"What has happened to New England? Have the great universities of the north east educated the common sense and decency right out of the local populous?"
My alma mater, MIT, is doing a pretty good job of educating thinking and highly enterprenural citizens.
"Surely an area so rich in culture, higher learning, history and resources can come up with something better than a drunken old coward and a traitorous gigolo? Certainly, New England has more to offer the country than just a good football team?"
The baseball team isn't too shabby either. Is this author from New York?

'Returning vets were required to present their DD 214s to the County Seat of their home of record within a couple weeks of SEPROS to be recorded into the County Clerk's Office. On the DD 214, line 13a Character of Service could present evidence. Kerry's SEPROS date should have been around June '69, after he bugged out of VN.
Lines 11a Type of Transfer or Discharge, 11b Station or Installation at which effected, 11c Reason and Authority.
I'm saying Kerry's DD 214 had to be recorded at his home of record shortly after SEPROS. It would be a county record in Massachusetts. Not a federal record.'
"Hopefully GWB will slam the lid closed on the porkers."
I'm pretty sure that is one of the targets of the SS personalization proposal and the 06 budget
The best salutation I ever heard of was Rep. Thompson's (TN) of New England Rep. Barney Frank.
Paraphrasing here, Yes, I'll recognize the challenge and thank you Representative Barney Fag, ohhh, I'm sorry, Bawney Fwank.
Things have a way of balancing out, don't they ? Kerry and Kennedy are the offsets to all the great men that came out of this area in a relatively short time from a small population.
Arnold is trying to clean up the mess, but the state legislature is overwhelmingly democratic, so naturally it's a tought fight. He's attempting to do what President Reagan did - go over their heads and go straight to the people. His personal popularity is very high.
We had gone to one of his rallies when he was running, and he is a fantastic speaker, very dynamic and charismatic. Great sense of humor.

While we're at it, we should be blaming the voters of Massachusetts....to get right down to it.
These lost Americans have been reelecting these jerks for decades.
It's astonishing, IMO.
