I just don't get it. if this guy has anything embarrassing in his military jacket, why the hell did he (a) run for president in the first place, and (b) run almost exclusively on his military record?

Because guys like Kerry expects the MSM to support them regardless of their behavior. And they do (look under Willie Clinton).

Wouldn't it be poetic justice if we discovered that while the MSM was trying to dream up stories about Bush's "desertion" Kerry had in fact been running on a less than honorable discharge. That would make his heroics as bogus as his supposed character.

I think he probably did have a less than honorable discharge, and managed to have it changed in the relatively recent past.
