Returning vets were required to present their DD 214s to the County Seat of their home of record within a couple weeks of SEPROS to be recorded into the County Clerk's Office. On the DD 214, line 13a Character of Service could present evidence. Kerry's SEPROS date should have been around June '69, after he bugged out of VN.

Lines 11a Type of Transfer or Discharge, 11b Station or Installation at which effected, 11c Reason and Authority.
