Bingo. This is how you fight this battle. Cut off the funding, and send your kids to a good private school or homeschool them.

No sense fighting the local school system for change. They are the symptom, not the disease. That good teacher your kid had in 1st grade will be nullified by the idiot he or she gets in the 2nd grade.

Vouchers are such a good and fair idea I can't believe we don't have them. We need to keep pushing our representatives on that issue.

Actually, vouchers are a terrible idea, although I used to believe as you do on the matter. Vouchers will create a subclass of homeschoolers who don't care about education, and are in it only for the money. Next thing you know, there will come some well-justified calls for increased government oversight of homeschoolers, and eventually curriculum certification.

We don't want to go there. I'll gladly go on paying property tax, if it means I retain the right to educate my children as I see fit.
