Criminy -- Ted Koppel was doing Nightline when I was a young teenager, in the mid-1970s

Ummm.... 'Nightline' apparently came about during the Iran-hostage crisis. I think it was late 70's.

Nightline began as a nightly roundup of events during the Iran hostage crisis. In those days before most people had cable, we all watched Ted to keep up with the news. It was so popular that they kept the show as a general news show after the crisis was over.

He was yesterday a long time ago. The most contemptible thing I've seen him do was interviewing ex-Vietcong to impugn the integrity of the Swiftees.
