Feller by the name of Jeff Garcia is comprable in his first 5 years. Had a better completion record too.

Since McNabb didn't have 1500 pass attempts at the beginning of the season he's not included in the NFL stats yet.

Interesting stuff there...

I saw Namath in college and the pros. He was not over rated. No telling what he could have done had he played on a better team.

Bradshaw comes off like a buffoon but he has the Super Bowl rings that say he got it done when it counted.

Well, I'm surprised no one's mentioned Michael Vick. I was a big Vick fan, but he hasn't really developed as a passer.

I say just turn him into an RB and be done with it.

Joe Namath was actually a very good running QB at Alabama. His mobility was ruined by multiple knee operations. He was famous for having the quickest release in the NFL. Unfortunately he hung around a couple of years too long.

"...Manning's but would Limbaugh have called him overrated?"

Perhaps if the press "hype" was the same.

Troy Aikman has to be the most overrated QB ever.

I don't think McNabb is over rated at all....then again I'm from Philly. Go Eagles!

I'll second all that. But remember, when Rush Limbaugh made his supposedly "racist" remark about McNabb being overrated, McNabb hadn't been playing up to expectations, especially in the big games.

The Colts are playing the Patriots again next year at Foxboro. I wonder if the media is going to jump on the Indy band wagon again or maybe now they've finally learned their lesson.

"Underrated.... Daunte Culpepper. He was the 2nd rated quarterback this regular season, but because of a weak defense"

Probably true. Rush opined that much of McNabb's success was due to the Eagles solid defense.

Today's starters I would have to rate Michael Vick as the most overated. The man is a joy to watch create when he is running around, but until he shows he can direct a complete offence he will never be a "great" QB.

As a Bills fan it pains me to add Drew Bledsoe to that list, yes Drew has some Gaudy stats when looked at as an entire career, but he is not very mobile and makes bad decisions. Those cost him during his time in NE, and were totally exposed behind the swiss cheese Buffalo has called a line the last couple years.

The MOST OVERRATED QB ever IMO - Rob Johnson. The boy was supposedly "can't miss" "has all the tools" "the next Marino" blah blah blah. He couldn't unseat Mark Brunell in Jax, and then was FORCED on Buffalo over Doug FLutie because they felt his Enormous contract Buffalo gave him basically Dictated that he start if he was going to be paid that much.

In fact it was right after they had lost to the Patriots.

Vick has about two good seasons before he loses a little speed and young linebackers are faster than he is. The proof will be, exactly as you say, can he stay in the pocket and deliver an accurate pass to his receivers CONSISTENTLY.

I am currently residing in Atlanta's TV market as far as Sunday football goes, and it gets almost comical how they pump him up. Case in point, I work with a guy who knows football and we were talking about the Pro Bowl selections this year and I made the point that picking Vick over Favre this year was ridiculous. He was in total disagreement until I pulled Vick's stats and showed him how anemic they were.

I was really angry the way Flutie got screwed out of a playoff start in 1999. I was very happy when the Titans pulled off the Music City Miracle just to deny Johnson a playoff win.

"Troy Aikman has to be the most overrated QB ever."

Some would say Stabach is overrated compared to Danny White who had better stats?

Danta had an incredible year. Any other year and people would be shaking their heads about what an awesome QB he's become, but all eyes were on Peyton Manning in 2004.

Hey, notice how no one has listed Tom Brady as overrated? That's because he is the real deal, and he is going to kick the Eagle's asses tonight!

"I wasn't born until after Namath's career ended but every person I've talked to who did see him play said he was a great passer."

Namath was, indeed, a great passer: Great arm, lightening quick release (somewhat similar to Marino's in Dan's prime). Namath's biggest attribute, though, was that he was fearless. His biggest drawback (before his knees went, anyway) was that his fearlessness would slide over into recklnessness.

As for underrated quarterbacks, I think one of the most underrated QB's I've ever seen was Ken Stabler. Though he did get quite a few accolades during his career, I find it unfathomable that he's not roundly considered one of the best. Another underrated QB - mainly because he never played for a good team - was Peyton and Eli's father, Archie Manning.

Overrated QB's - too many to mention.
