As a born again Christian, I'm about worn out from all these so called Christian leaders telling me about how sinful everything is...they are truly the taliban of the right....we should remember it's by by faith and not works...Gods grace frees us from those burdens that so called leaders keep trying to give back to us..
I concur. I had to learn this important lesson the hard way and a hard lesson it was. (For the first time I truly understood the book of Galatians.) What begins as a righteous desire to be pleasing to God in every aspect usually ends up as a rule to force on all Christians. Take for instance home schooling. The Lord may impress on someone the necessity of homeschooling their child/children. All well and good. But that person doesn't stop there. He codifies that which the Lord impressed upon *him* to include ALL other Christians everywhere. It therefore becomes a 'sin' not to home school.
You can insert 'watching t.v.' or 'drinking' or any number of things that are neutral in and of themselves but you get the picture. Christianity is not a list of rules to do or don't. It is a relationship begun in the Spirit and maintained in the Spirit through love. And that is how we are to be guided and not by others' arbitrary rules. They become a burden God never intended we bear.
And I home schooled back when it wasn't 'cool'(over 20 yrs. ago) so this is no sour grapes. It's experience. Lighten up, folks. Not everyone can or should home school. Stop passing out the guilt and replace it with a loving, helpful attitude toward all.
