Jan, As a CU grad who has long ago understood what the campus is all about, I'd just correct one thing. The campus has been this way for a long time. Boulder is a timewarp. When I return it's as if nothing has changed. The Vietnam era nonsense has never evolved into anything other than future generation wannabes.

The funny thing is, today I just laugh at these situations. These people are so delusional they provide great entertainment for the rest of us. Ward Churchill is held in high esteem in a tiny dusty corner of academia.

The students will get through it OK. It's a kind of "right of passage." They will look back at this nonsense and smile. These young people can generally take a lot of it in and later spit it out. They will play activist for a few years and then move on to real adulthood. That is, unless THEY choose to teach themselves. Than they remain warped.

Campos is an interesting guy. A Leftist who likes to stir things up. He wrote a book claiming being overweight is no big health problem. That took guts. He asks the good question here. Who hired the guy? However, he doesn't have the guts to move it to the next level. What the heck is an Ethnic Studies Dept. anyhow? It's not an academic discipline. It's a jobs program and a social engineering device for Leftists who can't exist in the real World.

Thanks for your explanation and insight. I always thought of Ward and Nederland as the "true" time warp, but I guess you can throw Boulder in there as well.

I didn't attend CU but have lived in the general area for 14 years. I spent a lot of time in Boulder as one of a handful of Republicans during this past Presidential campaign and spent three weeks at the Boulder County Clerks Office working on early voting, provisional ballots, absentee ballots etc. Let me say it was an eye opening experience to hear what the far-left think and believe. Time warp is putting it mildly! I'm glad you believe most will outgrow it or as you say, will end up becoming teachers themselves. God help us!

You didn't mention if you are still in the area or not? I was wondering if you remember the big controversy shortly after 9/11 when the Boulder County library took down The American Flag because some of its "guests" were offended, but around the same time they displayed a vulgar piece of art that WAS offensive but was kept on display(until it was stolen) in the name of art? I wanted to bring that up earlier but couldn't remember the details. Do you remember that event? That told me all I ever needed to know about Boulder.
