JUST FOR TODAY
As I go through some "troubles" in my own life, I've worked out this "formula" to help me be a useful and happy person. See if it doesn't work for you!
JUST FOR TODAY: I will try to live through this day only, and not tackle my whole life problem at once.
JUST FOR TODAY: I will be happy. I will assume to be true what Abraham Lincoln said: "Most folks are as happy as they make up their minds to be."
JUST FOR TODAY: I will try to strengthen my mind. I will study. I will learn something useful. I will read something that requires effort, thought and concentration.
JUST FOR TODAY: I will adjust myself to what is, and not try to adjust everything to my own desires.
JUST FOR TODAY: I will exercise my soul in three ways: I will do somebody a good turn, and not get found out. I will do at least two things I don't want to do just for exercise. I will not show anyone that my feelings are hurt; they may be hurt, but today I will not show it.
JUST FOR TODAY: I will be agreeable. I will look as well as I can, dress becomingly, talk low, act courteously, criticize not one bit, not find fault with anything, and not try to improve or regulate anybody but myself.
JUST FOR TODAY: I will have a program. I may not follow it exactly, but I will have lt. I will save myself from two pests: hurry and indecision.
JUST FOR TODAY: I will have a quiet half hour all by myself. During this half hour, I will try and get a better perspective of my life.
JUST FOR TODAY: I will be unafraid. Especially I will not be afraid to enjoy what is beautiful, and to believe that as I give to the world, so the world will give back to me.

Regretfully, my friend with the border collie moved away. If it had been up to me, she should have stayed and the dog should have gone.
That dog was so nuts to herd things he was repeatedly struck by cars and wearing casts. It was too frightening for me. I saw it get hit once and that was enough for me. That damn thing manufactured its own amphetamines!

My Moms border collie, Cody, was a wildman! the only thing that wears Borders out is death.
Cody ran agility trials and had a full obstacle course in the back yard which he was constsantly worked on, but it never tuckered him out.
The only way to calm him down was to crate him L0L
He died of natural causes.
Mom has an australian sheperd now, Rowdy, a much better dog for her I think

Hey, Vicki! ! have a short story.
When that song came out in '65, I was 13 or so. I was
learning the guitar and it was a simple enough tune to
master and I was hooked by the musics ebb and flow.
I still do the duet with a vinyl booted gal from St, Matthews, SC.
Vinyl booted and saint in the same sentence...
Sheesh!
Read more about Lee Hazelwood
His breakthrough came in 1965 when he teamed up with Nancy Sinatra, in what would become one of the most influential pop ventures. These Boots Are Made For Walking (1966) was one of the era's biggest hits, but it was also a nasty song about a dirty young girl. And the following songs by the duo reinforced the message, offering themselves as a not-so-angelic version of Sonny and Cher. Needless to say, eventually this led to problems with the music industry and by the end of 1968 Hazlewood was abandoned by a lot of influential people.
Thanks for the request!

Thanks for that story. I am so devoted to animals my reaction this this dog was unnerving and I did not want to be there to see the poor hyperactive thing killed. I'd known and had many different breeds and mongrels but that dude was
worse than my bud, Yaz.

You have described my dog, June, to a tee.
We are on a slow country road and she has 63 acres to run off the juice. The male stays near the shed and boat and tractor. He's more of a watcher. Fleet of leg and nip.

That's probably what they should have done for this dog, put one of those obstacle courses in the backyard. It might've kept him busy enough.

Three people owned the border collie I describe and they couldn't keep him on a tether. It wasn't a busy road but an old and curvy one. I think it was mostly old farts that hit the dog whose name I can't remember probably for mental healing purposes.

It wasn't so much the hyperness of the dog, but the fact that it didn't discriminate between safe and dangerous and got hurt a lot.
Like you say, apparently, you have to keep them busy.
