The Michael Irvin thing was pretty bad, I'll admit, no excuse for that.

Anyone remember which fans threw pork chops at Buddy Ryan? Dallas? Earlier in the week, Ryan almost choked to death on a pork chop.

I hadn't heard about that. Any sports fans get a pass on Ryan, though. He was a particularly nasty piece of work, probably as out of control as Woody Hayes. He attacked the Oilers offensive coordinator on the sidelines of a game (a person on the same coaching staff as him), put out a bounty to injure Cowboy players, etc.

The only time I felt sorry for him was in his last game as head coach at Phoenix. He had been fired, and was a lame duck, but his team got stomped and his own Phoenix fans poured beer and threw cups at him as he walked off the field.
