Europe is just jealous of America because their smarter, more productive citizens left years ago for a BETTER life in America and Canada.

America is the model of success that Europe will never be.

It's jealousy, pure and simple.

I hate to appear to be stooping to their level, but I have met MANY Europeans whom I would be kind in just calling "ugly". Pompous, arrogant, big-mouthed jerks. Not all, of course, but enough that I might come to the same conclusions.

I am not a foreign affairs expert by a long shot, but I have traveled extensively on official business and as a tourist. The first thing to remember is that all genera lies are false. Every place has fanatics and every place has reasonable people. You have to appeal to the reasonable persons and avoid the fanatics. When it is unavoidable, speak the truth and defend you country and your position. Many times a reasonable view will prevail maybe not immediately, but it will prevail. When it doesn't discretely retreat to present your position again.

I have found that Europe has a good technical base and the capability to produce in many areas. The trick is to tie into their capabilities and to use them wisely.

I also think that Europe is ready for a Christian revival. At the present time the glory has departed from the cathedrals, but I believe that it will soon return. Maybe not in the same form as it was, but it will return.

One contributing factor for the European "elites" to be upset is that the existance of the US as the main superpower makes their opinions largely irrelevant in world affairs. That has GOT to stick in their craws

What I find funny is that they are getting to be every bit as fat as Americans. For many years, this was their argument of last resort-- "But Americans are so FAT!" And now their own lazy children are following ours into obesity.

This is my unfortunate experience. They are as dogmatic as any so-called religious zealot.

There was a recent post to FR about the jailing of a religious figure in Sweden for speaking out against gay marriage. This was in the alleged "sophisticated" Sweden which seems to be repeating its own history that forced many Swedes to the US to escape religious persecution in the 19th century.
