I am not talking about defending yourself I am saying that people on both sides of the pond read a headline then say of all Americans are bad or all French are idiots.

Just because a Socialist is British does not mean the whole country is bad.

The greatest harm that you can do unto the envious is to do well, Europe is stuffed with envious people towards America.

True. A conflict well articulated by Whittaker Chambers in "Witness".

Mr. Longenecker is writing from the perspective of an American living abroad. What are your thoughts on his commentary?

It's a good read. It makes me aware that America is alone in the world, as we have been throughout history.

But somehow, even without the approval of foreign nations, we muddle through.

You made a generalized statement. We have Ted Kennedy for petes sake, but that doesn't make ALL Americans drruken fools. To make a statement that because America does not bow to the old worn out commie/fascist/socialist/ doctrines of the old worn out Europeans, does not make us "ignorant, isolationist and arrogant"

The war is always a touchy subject. Often the debate boils down to the American saying "We won the war" and the British saying "No you bloody well did not" instead of both sides saying "Hey we kicked Hitler's ass. We rule!".

I always go out of my way to extend the warmest welcome to Americans in London and find them to be polite and considerate tourists unlike the French who are rude.

..."...the European intelligentsia simply can't understand the morality and religious views of American voters."...

In not much longer--maybe 10 years?--the European snoots will come to understand Islam. And when the sword is up against their snooty necks, they will come to accept Islam while crying out for those stupid American-cowboys to come rescue them again.

I did not say "ignorant, isolationist and arrogant" that was a quote from the article.

When I do a quote I put a line of .....................
underneath it.

My comment was underneath that.

I have always seen the problem being that Europeans cannot think outside of collectivism. They do not understand the individualism that drives the USA. We cannot be pigeonholed and that drives them mad.

The USA runs the scale from Ugly & Evil to Far Superior. The Europeans tend to dwell on the Ugly & Evil when trying to figure us out. Actually, they run the same scale, but never make it to the Far Superior range. They never will.

"All arguments are theological arguments." Beneath it all, the growing divide between Europe and America is a divide between theism and atheism.

Close, but not quite right. That is a fundamentally religious perspective...but obviously that does not quite properly represent the non-religious side.

What most people, both religious and otherwise, don't recognize is that religion and philosophy are so closely related. They address, ask and answer the same types of questions. All people need to answer questions like 'What is good' and 'Should I do this' just about every moment of every day of their lives. And they need a framework to answer them. That framework could be religious or philosophical in nature. The important distinction is not whether the answer to those questions is religious or not, the important thing is how those questions get answered.

The split between America and Europe is not theistic vs atheistic. It is not even theistic vs philisophical. It is Judeo-Christian vs Kantian philosophy.

You cannot judge Europe based on the fact that their intellectual foundation is NOT Christian, you have assess them based on what their intellectual foundation IS. And the answer is that is Kantian...the philisophical foundations of Marxism. Nor is saying that America is a religious country (and I am an atheist) sufficient...you have to specify WHICH religion it is. After all, as the Eurinals are so fond of pointing out, Saudi Arabia is a religious country too.

Yeah, they hate us until they need us to bail their sorry asses out again like we did in 2 world wars. It's time for us to remind these people EXACTLY what we did for them back then. This isn't being arrogant it's just letting them know that we are tired of their bullshit! I can guarantee you that in the very near future they will be calling us once again to come and bail their sorry asses out from radical Islam with they have allowed to take over their countries.

The liberal media HATES authority.

Only one problem with your thesis. The liberal media LOVES Marxist authority, such as Castro. Otherwise you are correct.
