Our local paper has been making a full court press to get red light cameras approved in Alabama. There is a serious problem with folks running red light, but I don’t think cameras are the answer.

Check the bleeding heart language in this story: Wreck injures doctor, practice

My liberty interests in the Commonwealth demand that the folks who operate the public roads system do everything they can to make them safe.

Then why stop at cameras. How about rubber bumpers on the sides of the road. Perhaps a grooved slot for our cars to run in. Too much traffic? Road use rationing! Unsafe drivers? How about a police ride along --yeah a cop in your back seat ensuring safety. Yes. Yes! It is all for the CHILDREN!

Here in Springfield we all go out to the overpass carrying the Spfld.Bps. across I-95 and watch the PW drivers coming North.

Whoever "we" is--you need to get a life. You are losing your limited credibility with each frantic post.

Yeah, I kinda did get off subject didn't I? Nonetheless, the principle is the same; a police officer should be present to observe and report. At some point immediate to the alleged infraction there needs to be human intervention. Perhaps someone who ran the light was transporting an injured person for medical care and they ran the light in a prudent, safe manner.

Just going back to review this thread to see if there was more discussion.

Looks like another thread supplanted it.

Still, you haven't addressed the question of how it is that liberty is extended by putting an armed cop on every street corner.

No doubt 'tis a mystery, eh?!

BTW, it's not the 2X2 sticker we check out to tell if it's a PW driver, or not ~ rather we look to see if you still have your left index finger stuck in your nose!
