Our county has the largest number of meth labs arrests in the state....Looks like it was one too few.

I hope they can find a way to stop the break-ins at these ammonia distributors.

The police make regular patrols. But they aren't easy to spot...Meth user even tried to break in during the 2-3 foot snow this winter.....
WHat would be nice is the merchants where they buy the other ingredients can't turn them in because they usually pay cash....We know what they're buying and how they're using it, but getting a name is difficult....The entire community has been working on the problem for years.

Meth user even tried to break in during the 2-3 foot snow this winterI wonder if the meth users understand the concept of tracking footprints through the snow? Another area that is getting bad is the Greene County area west of Bloomington.

Nope. A few armed guards with orders to shoot-to-kill any intruder. That'll stop the break-ins.

One of the classical definitions of addiction is: continuing usage in the face of unacceptable consequences. By that measure, your family member was not addicted.

I wonder if there is an additive that can be put in the ammonia that will still allow it to be used by farmers, yet will make it useless to the meth makers?

Probably, but consider that anything that can be done can also probably be undone.

I guess that's the gray area --- according to his wife ---- he had just one --- he probably was addicted because he physically needed the low levels he maintained --- according to her he was an alcoholic but not a drunk and she said she never saw him get drunk --- it was always that way. But I suppose that's not different than pain killers where someone might "need" them but functions just fine otherwise and doesn't "need" them in an excessive amount.
