A friend's girlfriend became pregnant in high school. He offered to marry her, but she declined. He did however, give up a full football scholarship to Alabama to stay in town, work full time, and support the baby. He and his parents naturally were devoted to the little girl even though the girlfriend had custody.

About 10 years later, the mother and daughter walked into a fire station. One of the firemen on duty saw them and freaked out. The little girl was the spitting image of his childhood photos. Apparently he too had "dated" my friend's girlfriend in high school. He just knew that was his daughter. He pursued it, had a paternity test done, petitioned the court for partial custody and won.

My friend and his parents were heartbroken. Their daughter, granddaughter was no longer allowed for weekend visits - it was as though they'd never existed in the child's life. He had given up all his dreams to support his child and that cold hearted witch just threw him away when she had a new source for child support.

Women can be treacherous.

That's horrible! I hate stories like that. It must have been devastating for everyone concerned, except the mother, that is. She gets to go through life totally oblivious to the pain she's causing everyone else.

It's that child who suffers the most, though. (I know of a similar situation in my own circle of acquaintences). Some women just don't realize what they're doing to their kid's psychological development when they mess with their heads like this, acting out their own 'issues.' It's this kind of stuff that leads to personality disorders in the first place.

Sometimes I wonder if we shouldn't make people have a license to raise children.
