I have read many convincing accounts in books and on web-sites like BFRO. But when you actually talk to a witness in person, it brings a whole new sense of reality to it than when you read something in print. I have met the man and the two boys who while fishing on Washington's Riffe lake spotted one in a shore line clear-cut, Watching it for several minutes from their boat. I have also talked to a Randle couple in their mid 60's who both have seen them near their home and on numerous occasions have heard it's vocals from the forested hills around their home. Both parties were very believable, and I could find any reason they would make it up. These encounters are on the BFRO web site.
In 2001 while camping near the now famous Skookum meadow, I and 2 friends heard some very strange and loud sounds coming from the hill side above camp at about 2 in the morning. Loud enough to wake us up. These sounds were much like the audio recordings found on the web. BFRO said they were not in the area sound-blasting, so we think it could have been the real deal. We have returned to the same area each year since, hoping for a repeat we could record. Our full report can be read on BFRO.

I agree with your assesment of first hand accounts. The one that are not publicized but down to earth folks who have seen or heard something are the ones that interest me the most. Not the sensational ones. I'd love to have you send me some of the posts you frequent to see if I am missing any of the better ones.
