Silence is the better course here. I doubt if Keyes will mouth the name "Cheney" ever again in this context. The man has so many problems, that at this point, kicking him some more just isn't my cup of tea. I wish him well in seeking a more wise course in his future endeavors. The man has great talent, and great flaws. An interesting and large character.

No, he came back, he had a thread and then wanted it pulled because everyone was making fun of Keyes. He is a wuss.

Oh,he'll be baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack and with NO contrition,no apologies over his past statements. Neither he nor his sycophantic followers EVER admit when they're wrong, nor learn ANYTHING from past mistakes;sadly.

As ill as Alan is, its no match for his mouthbreathing fanatics, the unbelievable amount of twisting they have done lately is pretty hilarious.

Really? I guess I missed that. I haven't been on FR much from A week before Thanksgiving through New Years and only sporadically since then.

Seek out the better nature of each and every poster is my motto. Odd for an near atheist I know, but that is what I try to do. By doing that I have friendly relations with not only him, even while stating that if I lived in Illinois I would vote for Obama (I don't think anyone else on this forum did), but others with whom I don't agree on much, while not changing my views on a thing. In short, it can be done, with effort, and it is a worthy effort. JMO. To each his or her own style. It would be an exercise in hubris to suggest otherwise.

Well Keyes isn't a poster. LOL. My bad. Thus he has not been exposed to my gentling influence. :)

You weren't attack as I was,you weren't threatened,as I was,even before I ever posted a thing to any Keyes thread,and you weren't suspended for NOTHING,except for having posted facts....ONLY FACTS!

Sorry, old friend,we'll just have to agree to disagree on this one.

True. The master of this site lets me post anything I want, even when way out of the FR mainstream, or his mainstream. In that sense, he has been very generous to me, while not as much to some others.

I'm planning a long trip to Asia, maybe 6 weeks, so I will be absent for awhile, after I finish up some volunteer work I promised to do.

Gonna, eventually, go back to Phuket for a while, trying to plan a trip through N. Thailand, Laos, and all of Vietnam, then back to do Eastern Thailand, down south, and back home. I finally have the time to do a trip of more than 10 days at a time.

Phuket is in the best shape of all, over 90% of the hotels are open, the cleanup has been pretty good. Go to www.phuketgazette.com and look at the daily pictures, they have updated photos from around the island every day. The water only came about 600 or so meteres up the beach, and in Patong and Karon few structures were destroyed. My favorite bar was washed out, but the structure is still there.

I got a deal through my old airline for a $200+ a night resort in Phuket for $59, and one in Krabi for $39. But this trip will be mostly at nice places at $10-$20 a night. Its time for a long sabbatical!

In Vietnam, about a 2 minute walk from the beach, I got a hotel room with king sized bed, A/C, hot water shower, ensuite bathroom, cable tv and refrigerator, with a balcony for $10 a night. In Bangkok, I pay $17 for a very large bed and bathroom, with free breakfast, about $14 for a regular bed.

Phuket and other beach places are more, around $25-30 a night. Of course, you can always spend $200 a night, or get a nice room in a hotel in the 20's with a pool, rent a scooter for $5 a day and go to all the nice beaches!

Nam is cheap, as is Laos. Last year, upon arrival in Nha Trang, I spent the ungodly sum of $35 for a hotel at a state run place. I had a stately room, with a bedroom and a suite, 2 tv's and a balcony overlooking the ocean. However, the TV rarely worked, the bathroom had hot water, but only scalding hot water! It had a great pool though. I moved to the $10 a night place, having only to lug my scuba crap up five flights.

I took a trip to Dalat, 4 hours on a nice bus for about $6 and spent 3 days there at a good hotel for about $7 a night. (I was paying the white guy rate!, much more than the local rate.

You can certainly stay at the top end, I spent a few nights in Cambodia at the bar at the ultra chic hotel that charged a few hundered a night, before walking 5 minutes to my servicable $20 suite!

Most of the world has nice bargains, I'm way past the hostel days of sharing a room with 6 snoring belgians!
