The residents of a small Iraqi village have killed five insurgents who had attacked them for voting in last weekend's national elections.
Several other insurgents were also wounded.
The insurgents raided the village of al-Mudhiryah south of Baghdad after warning its inhabitants not to vote in the election.
The villagers fought back, killing five of the insurgents and wounding eight others.
The insurgents' cars were then set alight.
Al-Mudhiryah's tribal sheikh says his people are sick of being threatened by Islamic extremists.

The beginning of the end for the terrorists.
Terrorists need a reservoir of people in which to hide.

This is what we've all been waiting for...the tipping point when average Iraqis get fed up and take matters into their own hands!

The beginning of the end for the terrorists. You got that right. Iraq may become an example for muslims elsewhere. Don't be afraid, stand up and stop it. I may be dreaming but it is a hope....

They don't need the Magnificent 7.

I can't decide which part of this is the best news. The fact that the village people took on the terrorists or the fact that ABC actually reported this piece.

Al-Mudhiryah's tribal sheikh says his people are sick of being threatened by Islamic extremists. And I suspect the knowledge that most of these terrorists are foreigners doesn't sit too well with them either.
