girls have gotten a lot of attention in recent years, and boys have been neglected.

That's true. All of the emphasis has been on making sure that girls get "their share". I'm on the edge by thinking that boys really do need different things than girls do (and I don't just mean Ritalin so they can become as docile as girls).

I love what Laura is doing.

Me too. I thought it was a particularly interesting thing for her to want to get involved in. There are always things out there that don't get a lot of attention and it seems like she's picked a very worthwhile cause and one that she can definitely bring a lot of focus to.

An interesting study a decade or two ago showed that boys and girls have different reactions to childhood traumas or neglect.

Girls often can shake off the damaging effects in their lives of neglect or trauma, and will still go on to be successful although delayed.

Boys often never get over the effects from lack of nurturing in their childhood.
