Thanks! Reminds me of this:

The Oil-for-Food Scandal – the Canadian Connection

Current Canadian PM Paul Martin is a former Power Corporation employee who made his fortune when he bought Canada Steamship Lines from Power Corp. aided by loans from Power Corp. To this day both CSL and Power are reported to have mutual equity interests in each other.

The most senior foreign affairs/international trade adviser to current Canadian PM Paul Martin is Maurice Strong, former CEO of Power Corp. and a longtime U.N. and Kofi Annan adviser.

INTERNATIONAL MAN OF MYSTERY: WHO IS MAURICE STRONG? By Ronald Bailey Published in The National Review September 1, 1997

Among the hats he currently wears are: Senior Advisor to UN Secretary General Kofi Annan; Senior Advisor to World Bank President James Wolfensohn; Chairman of the Earth Council; Chairman of the World Resources Institute; Co-Chairman of the Council of the World Economic Forum; member of Toyota's International Advisory Board. As advisor to Kofi Annan, he is overseeing the new UN reforms.

Yet his most prominent and influential role to date was as Secretary General of the 1992 UN Conference on Environment and Development -- the so-called Earth Summit -- held in Rio de Janeiro, which gave a significant push to global economic and environmental regulation.

"He's dangerous because he's a much smarter and shrewder man [than many in the UN system]," comments Charles Lichenstein, deputy ambassador to the UN under President Reagan. "I think he is a very dangerous ideologue, way over to the Left."

LAST week, Secretary General Annan unveiled Maurice Strong's plan for reorganizing the UN. To be sure, the notoriously corrupt and inefficient UN bureaucracy could do with some shaking up. Strong's plan, however, mostly points in a different direction -- one drawn from a document, Our Global Neighborhood, devised by the interestingly named Commission on Global Governance.

The CGG was established in 1992, after Rio, at the suggestion of Willy Brandt, former West German chancellor and head of the Socialist International [Note: As chancellor Brandt pursued policies favorable to Soviet policy in Germany and was subsequently scandalized when East German agents were found on his staff--Fedora]. Then Secretary General Boutros Boutros-Ghali endorsed it.

Americans should be worried by the Commission's recommendations: for instance, that some UN activities be funded through taxes on foreign-exchange transactions and multinational corporations.

Interesting aside on the Rio conference mentioned above:

Teresa Heinz Kerry

Heinz Kerry met John F. Kerry in 1990 at an Earth Day rally, after being introduced by Senator Heinz. This was the only known time that she and John Kerry met before the death of Senator Heinz. After Senator Heinz died in an airplane crash on April 4, 1991 in Pennsylvania, Heinz Kerry inherited his vast fortune. She and John Kerry ran into each other again at Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in 1992 at the Earth Summit, which Ms. Heinz attended as a member of a State Department delegation by appointment by President George H. W. Bush. Their courtship began in 1993, and they were married on May 26, 1995 on Nantucket, Massachusetts. This was also the second marriage for Senator Kerry.

Interesting that these same names pop up both with respect to the push for "environmental" regulations to be funded by taxing multinational corporations and with respect to the OFF scam. Looks like the same scam artists playing two rackets, and it dovetails with Soros' "open society" policies for supposedly "managing" corporate corruption:

Open Society News: Stopping the Spread of Corruption

Soros, not coincidentally, is one of Strong's supporters:

The Earth Charter - Agenda for Totalitarianism

The United Religions Initiative supports the push by Maurice Strong and Mikhail Gorbachev, founders of Green Cross International, for an Earth Charter. Gorbachev views this proposed Earth Charter as "a kind of Ten Commandments, a 'Sermon on the Mount,' that provides a guide for human behavior toward the environment in the next century and beyond." (11) Proponents of the Earth Charter will seek endorsement of the treaty from those who attend the Parliament of World Religions in December 1999. The Charter is a far-reaching document, one that would reshape the economy and politics of all nations if adopted. The "Green Cross Earth Charter Philosophy" - a document from the Earth Council web site - makes the philosophy and goals of the proposed new treaty clear: "The protection of the Biosphere, as the Common Interest of Humanity, must not be subservient to the rules of state sovereignty, demands of the free market or individual rights." (12)

Maurice Strong has the position and the influence to make himself heard worldwide. Strong, Chairman of the Earth Council, is on the board of the World Economic Forum (WEF); Klaus Schwab, president and founder of the WEF, is a member of the Earth Council.(1114) The WEF, which meets annually in Davos, Switzerland, describes itself - with good reason(1115) - as "the most significant global business summit bringing together close to 2,000 business and political leaders, experts, academics, and members of the media, to set the global agenda for the coming year." (1116) For example, Bill Gates, Yasser Arafat, Benjamin Netanyahu, Muhammad Hosni Mubarak (President of Egypt), Donna Shalala (Secretary of Health and Human Services), Viktor Chernomyrdin (Prime Minister of Russia), the presidents of Romania, Hungary, and Poland, Kofi Annan (UN Secretary General), Michael Bon (CEO of France Telecom), John Smith (CEO of General Motors), Peter Sutherland (Chairman of Goldman-Sachs), Kim Woo-Choong (Chairman of Daewoo Corporation), and Jürgen Schrempp (Chairman of Daimler-Benz) attended the 1997 session of the World Economic Forum. (1117) According to Forbes magazine, George Soros is one of the "regulars" at these meetings.(1118)
