I wouldn't bet on that. That might unify the nation behind the mullahs. Even with XXX-42 as president, if our country was bombed I would get behind him on fighting the attackers. (Although when it happened under him, we shot a couple cruise missiles at empty tents and then forgot about it).
No way. The "nation" is divided among those wanting their freedom back and the elite governing the country Shia style.
They are not Arabs and most don't even care about Islam. Those wanting to take the country back to democratic principles, those millions that fight the thugs hired by the mullahs in the streets, will cheer any move to bring down this corrupt government.
I know many Iranians that escaped in the 50's, 60's and especially late 70's. Most left for being persecuted for not bowing to the Muslim religion. They are very successful business men and American citizens but still have much family back in Iran. Some of them brought family members here under duress and threat.
