President Bush will deliver his annual State of the Union address before a joint session of Congress tonight at 6 PM Pacific time. A live webcast is available here. According to CNN, quoting a top aide, "President Bush will present 'a strategy for success' in Iraq and outline details of his Social Security proposal."
Judge Michael Chertoff testified during his nomination to become Homeland Security Secretary before the U.S. Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee.
President Bush plans a late February trip to Europe to seek additional assistance from the European Union and NATO in Iraq, and to meet with leaders, including German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder.
There will be lots of photos tonight during and after the president's speech.
Enjoy your visit to Sanity Island!
I'll bet they will re-air it tonight!
Check the website for a schedule. A lot of times they'll play a SOU speech later the same night :-)
I so didn't want to spoil the speech by the bad taste of the nasty dems. Skipped that ... didn't miss a thing.
Hey, we all cried during that scene.
Those who didn't ... well, I don't get it.
Please tell your son Eric, this old fart shed quite a few tears in honor of him and his fellow soldiers who make us so proud, and made this day possible.
God Bless America
I think we saw the 2nd phase (November was the first) in the end of the Democratic Party as we know it. These people have NO clue, and it is almost painful to watch them keep coming back and making the same mistakes over and over.
Woohoo.!! Just heard her say will reair at the top of the hour. Thanks Phancy. Great speech wasn't it? At least I got to listen in the car....of course I was stuck listening to Dusty Harry and Ms. America too. Oh boy are they infuriating! How they can't see the forest for the trees.
Laura has impeccable instincts. I noticed her staying deliberately out of the moment with the two other women.
Can you imagine how Hillary would have knocked the two of them apart to get in the middle?
Maybe Barney and Beezy got them (ominous music here) aaalllll aaallloonnneeee . . . and are using them as chew toys.
Or maybe they just self destructed.
I wasn't frustrated by Dingy Harry and that old bird Pelosi, they are a sedative--I'm ready to go to bed now!
G'night!
That's what I thought.
FRmail to you.
Yes! I thought of Eric and some of my former students who are/were there, as well as those who never made it home. If people don't get it from that moment, then they probably never will. The President spoke of the Iraqi woman's fater and his assination, and then of her being able to vote. I wanted him to say, "Your daddy would be proud," because I know so many Americans were proud for her.
Good night everyone. I have an appointment with C-span! Great night for all. Bush is such an envisionist. Even the one thing I am not sure I agree with him on he made me go hmmm,,,it's a possibility. :) See you all tomorrow.
Check the CSPAN website.
(I'd do it for you but mr.h is waiting for his backrub:-) )
I'd love to see the whole thing again too! I bet they'll re-run it several times tonight and thru tomorrow--that seems to be their pattern.
Hello homemom...thanks. Goodnight.
The Joint Chiefs?....they are not outwardly supposed to show political bias....per Mike...
He was extremely relaxed, and in a humorous mood thru at least the first part.
Did you hear the people booing? I thought that was very low class. But he certainly expected it and reacted appropriately.
Way too many people don't understand the sacrifices families like yours, and OWF's have made over the years. This is one American who will go to his grave supporting our Military and their families.
God Bless Our Military and their families
Yep, HIllary would have done that.
Did you see Laura shake the father's hand and kind of encourage them to stand. What a moment.
Mike, I was ok until that moment...I will never forget it. That Marine mom showed so much courage tonight...God Bless her.
Thanks for the info, Mike.
And how did you feel seeing the Iraqi woman who had voted? You were part of that too. Amazing!
