Police on Tuesday captured a teenager suspected in the fatal weekend shooting of a 14-year-old boy.
The 16-year-old suspect was taken into custody about 1:30 p.m. after a tip from an informant, police said. His name is not being released because he is a minor.
One police official said the suspect had his bags packed and a bus ticket to leave the area.
Ruben Juarez, a Greiner Middle School seventh-grader, was shot and killed Sunday afternoon in a shopping center parking lot in west Oak Cliff. His stepfather was injured.
His stepfather said the assailant shot at them after the victims' sport utility vehicle nearly collided with the gunman's car in a parking lot on West Davis Street.
Dallas police say Ruben's slaying might have resulted from road rage, but they continue to investigate to determine the motive. It was not clear whether the victim and suspect knew each other.
