About 2,000 people gathered in Punxsutawney, Pa., on Wednesday morning for the updated winter forecast from the famous groundhog.
Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow and that means six more weeks of winter.

You run a nursery, eh? What heaven!Yes, all by myself. Nobody to have to explain things to.
It's heaven alright, except for the 98 hour work weeks 10 month a year. Kidding about the work being tough, I love it, it keeps me young.
I'll tell you what I'm beginning to watch as an indicator of the coming winter -- the number and variant sizes of acorns that fall from my older oak trees in the late summer and fall.

Has he ever not seen his shadow? If it's a cloudy day, he won't see his shadow. It's that simple.
But I appreciate Groundhog day. It reminds me that this rotten cold weather will not last forever.

Mrs. Lancaster: I don't think so, but I could check with the kitchen.

Winter, slumbering in the open air, wears on its smiling face a dream... of spring. Ciao.

When Chekhov saw the long winter, he saw a winter bleak and dark and bereft of hope. Yet we know that winter is just another step in the cycle of life. But standing here among the people of Punxsutawney and basking in the warmth of their hearths and hearts, I couldn't imagine a better fate than a long and lustrous winter.
