PLANE CRASH IN NYC BURBS: "BREAKING NEWS" This just being reported. A private plane has crashed at Teterboro airport 5 miles west of Manhattan. Teteroboro primarily services private aircraft.
The plane tried to land...overshot the runway crossed Route 46 and slammed into a building.
Several cars were on Route 46 in the midst of rush hour, and have been impacted by both the jet and the aftermath of running into each other.
The plane has been confirmed to be a Challenger C-360, the owners are from the Dallas Texas area.
The studios of New York based WMCA 570/970 directly overlook the Teterboro airport, and eyewitnesses are reporting massive traffic delays through the area
I thought it failed to rotate on take off.
That's interesting... well, there are two runways at TEB, and the shorter of the two is only 6000'. Guess that wasn't enough...
Already posted on "breaking news" a mere two spots below yours. I know its early, but doesn't anyone do a search before posting?
Hope people involved are OK. I'm surprised this doesn't happen more often. Teterboro used to be a rinky dink regional airport, but they want to land bigger and bigger planes there. The number of planes that use that airport is simply astounding. There doesn't seem to be a moment in the day that a plane is not taking off or landing there.
Why does this bother you so?
Over a mile isn't enough to land a corporate?
Sounds like failure to leave ground effect on takeoff to me.
Ice?
My old apt. in Hackensack oberlooked T-boro. I used to sit on the balcony and watch the air traffic there and and the big boys on final to EWR. Overshot the runway and hit building on Rt. 46? Would that possibly be the Ford Parts warehouse?
OVERlooked, sorry
We will add your name to the "PPP" list.
(A) Duplicate posts take up server space and bandwidth, which increases the cost of operating a website.
(B) The owner of this site and the Mods have repeatedly requested members to do a search before starting a thread in an effort to avoid duplicates. I think its incredibly rude for members to disregard the rules that we have been asked to abide by as a condition of our membership. That's sort of like coming into my house with your shoes on and a cigarette in your mouth despite the sign at the door that says "please remove your shoes" and "no smoking." If you don't like the rules, then go play someplace else.
P.S. While I recognize that the search function is less than perfect, I suspect that even a dimwit from DU coulkd have found the existing post two spots south under "Breaking News."
Well, it's nice to know that the Thread Cops are on the job.
More like the "Neighborhood Watch Program."
I admire your gift for understatement.
Meantime! Thanks for ruining this thread with your silly-assed bickering and "rules-will-be -rules'" crappola.
