Tenure should be dealt with immediately. How many of you have a guarantee concerning your job? Tenure seems to be protecting some of the most vicious individuals among us, giving them power over one of our most vunerable groups, our young adults, who need grades to get that piece of paper which will help them survive in life. The time is now for colleges, universities and academic boards to address this.
Do you realize that the University is the only "guilde" to survive the middle ages? Its a racket, has been, always will be.
There should be NO tenured government job in the USA, and that includes federal judges. Everyone should be accountable for the work they do. If the people think you merit further employment, they will support you. If not, they should be free to fire you. You can still speak your mind in the park or on the street corner or in letters to the editor, but that doesn't mean that people have to listen or the editor has to publish your letters. Why in the world should someone be employed for life with no accountability paid for by the taxpayer? No wonder they are such arrogant SOBs.
