The President's wisdom in not signing on to the World Court is reinforced in spades here.
Actually, I think that it would be delightful for Secretary Rumsfeld to go to Germany and bait these idiots. Let them try to arrest him and just see what would happen. It would be great theater!
A greater concern, however, is the plight of our military service men and women under these laws. I suppose that there will need to be some major international incident in order to get them repealed.

"US legal rights group"
Wonder if this is part of Kristol's and McCain's insurgent group that have been after Rummy's head?

I wonder how the German government would react to a message like this.
You arrest our SecDef and we have several hundred throusand troops who will start killing and breaking things getting him back. Call.

The President's wisdom in not signing on to the World Court is reinforced in spades here. How right you are! The delight I would take in watching the Germans even attempt to place Rumsfeld under arrest is beyond description. I would pay for a front row seat to when President Bush reacts, and I would await with baited breath to watch the dems react.
I am actually of the opinion that he should go--call a bluff or force a hand. Not to go would send a message of fear and intimidation, IMHO.

I wonder if the radicals in Germany would arrest Wesley Clark or Bill Clinton if they went to Germany? They never had UN approval for their little adventure in Kosovo either.

Rummy should order every GI and every last piece of military hardware we have in Germany back to the States.

These Germans have egg all over their faces when it comes to war crimes. Those people still can't face themselves for Hitler and WWII, or at least many of them are in denial. I have a German sister in law, and I seriously doubt whether or not her children have any concept of the Holocaust and Hitler. It's hard to face the truth when you are not the hero, so most don't.
