At least I know that I belong to a majority of Republicans (58%) who support President Bush immigration policy.
I would imagine that 27% figure represents those folks living in the most affected states that have the dubious distinction of seeing what is happening to our country first hand. When the rest of the country sees more of this, that number will increase dramatically. Unfortunately, by that time we'll likely have 30,000,00 or more "Guests" in our country to pay for.
"Gallups Dec. 17-19 poll found that Iraq (51% extremely important), terrorism (49%), education (44%), healthcare costs (42%), the economy (40%), and Social Security (40%) are the top issues in the eyes of Americans. The importance that Americans say should be given to dealing with immigration is roughly equivalent to the importance of dealing with poverty and homelessness (29%), energy policies (27%), taxes (26%), and the environment (24%) in the next year.
