Arizona was considered a battleground (they held one of the Presidential debates there). And Arkansas was considered a battleground given that it was Clinton's home state. Both of its Senators are Democrats as well.

I'll give you Arkansas perhaps, but Arizona is silly to include as a battleground state, regardless of where they held the debate. I think Kerry, like most, have in mind a handful of states when you talk 'battleground'.
