Revisionist history, pure and simple. He should either own his words and stand by them or admit how wrong he was and apologize. Blaming anyone but himself is absurd.
To: freespirited
Liberals NEVER apologize.
He's just digging a deeper hole, which is fine with me. His words provided the noose from which to hang. The deeper the hole, the less chance his feet touch the ground. Ugly, Yes. Hurtful, Yes. SHOVE IT Churchill..

So how were his previous statements distorted? This is even worse than what he was accused of saying in the first place.

Since he hates the U.S. so much perhaps we should deport him to Fallujah, just dump him on the street and see how much sympathy his views bring him.
To: freespirited
He has further clarified that he is a blithering idiot.
What I said was that the "technocrats of empire" working in the World Trade Center were the equivalent of "little Eichmanns." Adolf Eichmann was not charged with direct killing but with ensuring the smooth running of the infrastructure that enabled the Nazi genocide. Similarly, German industrialists were legitimately targeted by the Allies.
I get it. There is no confusion here.

As Martin Luther King, quoting Robert F. Kennedy, said, "Those who make peaceful change impossible make violent change inevitable." That is so funny, I have never seen a quote attributed like that before in my life. This guy sounds like a wack job. He's trying to make excuses for himself and the excuses are not exceptable in my opinion.

In 1996 Madeleine Albright, then Ambassador to the UN and soon to be U.S. Secretary of State, did not dispute that 500,000 Iraqi children had died as a result of economic sanctions, but stated on national television that "we" had decided it was "worth the cost." That woman was just about the stupidest cabinet member in American history. I doubt whether even the administration of Ulysses S. Grant (a great general but a lousy president) could equal it.
I wonder whether Maddy has ever had a clue that the basic reason these children died was the Oil-for-Food program, which bill clinton helped Kofi and his pals set up.
Certainly Churchill has no excuse not to know what the true causes were, after all the recent publicity. After all, he claims to be an "expert" on these matters.

Pardon my ignorance, but exactly who is Ward Churchill? Please tell me he's no relation to Winston.

He's still a jerk.
Saddam and only Saddam is totally responsible for any and all deaths that occurred during the sanctions. Period.

Well, I feel so much better now.
Too bad he can't take responsibility for what he said. This clarification is worse than what was previously reported on.
To: freespirited
It's a shame he was threatened. No one should be threatened.
Never threaten someone like him. Nope.
To: freespirited
Typical polyanna libefral pap. He really should just leave this country or watch his backside!

As if we didn't already know this, Albright is as much of an imbecile as this Churchill freak. Even if we stipulate that 500,000 Iraqi children died of disease or hunger during the time in which economic sanctions against Iraq were in place (the same sanctions that lefties later claimed were so successful as to make it unnecessary to remove Saddam from power), those children died because Saddam didn't spend a dime on his people's health and wellbeing and used all of Iraq's resources on weapons and the like. Leftists like this Churchill joker would have us send more hard currency to Saddam so that he could develop more weapons, since leftists figured that some of that money would "trickle down" (to coin a phrase) to poor Iraqis (ironically, when the rising tide of supply-side economics lifted all boats during the Reagan presidency, these leftists refused to see what was as plain as the nose on their faces).

Similarly, German industrialists were legitimately targeted by the Allies. Is that why there were so many of them left alive at the end of the war? I could find better two bit opinions in a bar than this so called"professor" has.

Typical lib sh1t. Everything was taken out of context, I was misquoted, that wasn't what I meant.....the whole 9 yards here.
Just like with everything from "Bush's 16 words" to the "Yellow Cake" fiasco. They pick and choose which word combinations they want to use. Never mind 150 words previous, or the 150 words after.......
They squeal like pigs when confronted with their errors. I love to see them dance like this..
