Makes sense to me. You don't mind making them legal do you?
I don't mind legal immigration at all. But legal immigration begins with application and qualification in the originating country, followed by controlled entry and regular monitoring of location and status here in the United States for those accepted. This is the essence of border security.
I am opposed to any blanket legalization which merely legitimizes the status quo -- an uncontrolled flood of unknown and unknowable aliens who came here illegally. Such schemes would provide only the appearance of immigration reform but no improvement in border security. And if human nature is a reliable indicator, any such capitulation to lawlessness would only embolden new waves of illegals emulating what worked before.
To any foreign national wanting to work here: Apply at any United States Embassy or Consulate. Maybe you can be one of us. Maybe not.
