You evidently misread or only partially read Sheriff Larry Dever's remarks. At a guess you just went with the partial soundbite on Scarborough's show.
The new head of the Tucson sector of CBP really doesn't like us because he knows we're going to make him look stupid. I personally plan to yank his chain with a vengeance. The working agents who do their job have no problem with us.
As for the vote numbers, the towns of Douglas and Naco profit from smuggling and Bisbee is Haight-Ashbury East. A lot of people here held their noses and voted for Shrubya just because Ketchup Boy was a worse choice. A lot of others, like me, left the north end of their ballots unmarked.
I did not vote for Bush, McCain, or Kolbe. All three were openly on record as being against my best interests.
Sometimes when your nextdoor neighbors let their house go to pot ---their toilets are plugged up and overflowing, there is filth and garbage everwhere, they have no food in their pantry --- they would like to just move into your house. The best thing you can do is offer some tough love, send them home --- and they might even get to work on improving their place once they realize they have to live in it.
