You have to think that old Rushbo has a pretty good finger on the pulse of the nation.

Between the calls and emails he gets he must have a good feeling for reality in America.

That he characterizes the problem as one that is "seething" below the surface is very accurate. Americans are getting downright pissed over the inaction of their elected representatives.

Sooner or later the illegal Mexicans here are going to be returned to Mexico. The government can do their duty, or the people will through re inventing government in a way that does the will of the people. But between now and the next Presidential election this is coming to a head.

Here in Colorado you will see a ballot initiative that will build on Arizona's Prop 200. I am sure other states will have similar initiatives.

Bush is obtuse and as out of touch to this issue as his daddy was over taxes.

Add Virginia to the list. They have several new bills pending that mirror Prop 200 here in Arizona.

Virginia Legislative Details:

Senate Bill 1143 by Senator Emmett Hanger. This legislation is designed to make it more difficult for terrorists to operate in the state and for illegal aliens to obtain services and benefits funded by taxpayers. If passed, it would: (a) prohibit public agencies at the state and local level from granting certain benefits and services to persons who cannot prove legal presence in the state of Virginia; (b) prohibit the acceptance of personal identification documents issued by foreign governments (e.g., Matricula Consular); (c) prohibit the acceptance for identification purposes of driver's licenses and IDs issued by states that grant them to illegal aliens; and (d) allow citizens standing to seek redress where public agencies fail to comply with this law.

House Bill 1798 by Delegate David Albo. This is companion legislation to SB 1143. (See description above.)

House Bill 2908 by Delegate Thomas Gear. HB 2908 would prohibit state and local governments from awarding publicly-funded service contracts to firms that hire illegal aliens. Other patrons (cosponsors) include Dels. Janis and Reid. [I really like this one.]

House Bill 2910 by Delegate Thomas Gear. HB 2910 would prohibit enrollment of illegal aliens in our state-funded universities. Co-Patrons (cosponsors) include Dels. Albo, Byron, Carrico, Cole, Cosgrove, Griffith, Hogan, Janis, Jones (of Suffolk), Landes, Marshall (of Manassas), Sherwood and Weatherholtz.

Back in 1991, when Bush I was riding with about a 90% approval rating, and everyone was saying that he would surely win re-election, Limbaugh made the statement that war approval ratings are temporary, and that the economy could sink Bush's chance at a second term.

Of course, W already has his second term, but I believe that Hillary might try to find a Perot like figure and work out a deal with him to split off enough of the republicans with a third party candidate. Personally, looking at Boxer, Kennedy, Kerry and Dean, I don't see anyone else in the Rat party that is even coherent, much less a viable candidate.

Although I hate to admit it, old UT will not soon have a similar law. Too many UT Reps and Sinators are looking like amnesty advocates and that really irritates me. We now have a group that is fighting for a "toss the illegals" law, but they are few and have no real voice in the matter, at least not yet.
