Carol Adams has been selling Italian ceramics and tiles on eBay Inc. for nearly six years. But this may be the year she abandons the Internet auction site, following the announcement earlier this month of a new fee schedule for eBay's millions of merchants.

I guess the $15 billion the eBay creator has made isn't enough.
Where are they going to go?
not only are ebay a bunch of greedy jerks, their support sucks and they have banned about half of the items I would like to buy or sell. they've even banned keywords and accessories for banned items.
now that they own paypal, they make money on the seller at listing time, again when the item sells, and again when the item is paid for with paypal.
I wish there was a decent alternative.
Yeah, I've been a big ebay fan but this huge increase is hard to take. Hopefully this will give rise to some real competition, which is what is needed to keep the prices down.
Give it time, hopefully another site will crop up.
eBay is starting to become the monster MicroSoft became, because they know they have the market almost completely cornered. After all, where are the sellers going to go? If you want to play, you have to pay, eBay, of course!
Yahoo has auctions I believe.
Yeah, ebay is a joke. Right now it's a colossus, and the only game in town, but the seeds of discontent have been sown for some time. I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of little ebays start popping up.
This may be the alternative.

I like overstock.com and they have $2.95 shipping
Starting a business and making money are the American way. EBay is not gouging anyone, so who cares how much money they make? They are entitled to every penny. Whenever a company starts to really make a bundle, people start leveling the "greed" and "monopoly" charges. The whole point of starting a business is to be successful, not to be nicey-nicey. Anyone is free to complain and pull their business just as they are free to start their own competitor to EBay. I sure wish I had thought of it first.
Possibly here
Yes, they do but they haven't had much success I don't think. Perhaps with the ill feelings toward e-bay, more will begin to migrate their way.
Or...this could be a good alternative for any wanna-be entrepenuers on FR.
Just don't pay your fees and start a new seller name
How about www.auctions.freerepublic.com?
Which is exactly why they shouldn't abuse their customer base. That doesn't translate to long-term success.
ebay and paypal are both psychotically anti-gun. If paypal out that you sent money to someone for a gun parts purchase, or *even donating to a pro-gun web site* they'll ban your account on the spot.
I'm not touching either of them again just for that alone.
I love overstock.com, but my friend returned a set of sheets to them, and they 'lost' them.. she didn't have the tracking number from the return so they will not credit her account. Its a $100 charge... hmmm... so word to the wise, get a tracking number on those returns.
Oh, for goodness sake, they are not abusing anyone. Are they never allowed to raise their fees?
many are moving to http://www.bidville.com
