Bill Moyers: There is no tomorrow

One of the biggest changes in politics in my lifetime is that the delusional is no longer marginal. It has come in from the fringe, to sit in the seat of power in the Oval Office and in Congress. For the first time in our history, ideology and theology hold a monopoly of power in Washington.
Theology asserts propositions that cannot be proven true; ideologues hold stoutly to a worldview despite being contradicted by what is generally accepted as reality. When ideology and theology couple, their offspring are not always bad but they are always blind. And there is the danger: voters and politicians alike, oblivious to the facts.

In 1892 the US supreme court declared the US a "Christian Nation" in no uncertain terms.
Looked it up. Thanks for the tip. Good ammo to use against my athesist-leaning friends.

Moyers is the classic lefty. A self-appointed intellectual, elite that uses his nonsense to justify totalianism and terrorists.
When the history of our times are written future historians will comment how the liberals betrayed their own beliefs for some desperate (and hopefully futile) pursuit of power.

James Watt told the U.S. Congress that protecting natural resources was unimportant in light of the imminent return of Jesus Christ. In public testimony he said, "after the last tree is felled, Christ will come back." The Dims have the tree-huggers, but we Pubbies proudly clasp this bunch to our bosom. And the neocons call us paleos the "wing nuts", what a laugh
The Leocons won't even be caught in a smirk about it because these fundamentalists folks are just one portion of the "useful idiots" foretold by the communist roots of these hijackers.

I bow my head in shame that this lunatic-ic assemblage of warped DNA and hate-filled flesh, Bill Moyers, hails from my state. Moyers is more than offset by being the home of The Alamo, birthplace of Chester Nimitz and Audie Murphy and having 4 teams in the Big 12.

Liberals ARE the ones delusional. Bill Moyers think the Religious Right will destroy Mother Nature And incite Global Armageddon in Time For The Second Coming. Its a fantastical picture, alright. And its also one that exists in the fevered imaginations of liberals. The funny thing is this concern for the End Of World is coming from the same folks who warn us Global Warming is already heralding the End Of The World!

There's lots more.
The US at one time was made up of 99% professing Christians.
The first right is freedom of religion NOT free speech as declared by the Constitution.
Every inaugural address given since the begining of the US has metntioned God at least once. Every single one.

"Theology asserts propositions that cannot be proven true" ~ Moyers He worries so about what can be "proven". I want to see him prove that others beside himself have minds and aren't just pre-programmed robots. Hahahaha

Moyers description of religious whack-jobs who want to set US foreign policy to fit (and accelerate) their view of end times events is so completely out of touch and describes precisely no-one within the mainstream conservative movement (paleo, neo, Reagan-ite, whomever).
Is he suggesting that the President and his team are making policy decisions based on considerations of what will spur the return of Jesus Christ?
If so, wow. Talk about delusional. It's almost disturbing how little a prominent leftist like Moyers understands the philosophical roots and pragmatic aims of the current republican (and marginally conservative) leadership of our country. Pathetic.

Is he suggesting that the President and his team are making policy decisions based on considerations of what will spur the return of Jesus Christ? Bill Moyers is over the edge if he thinks this. What is going on today isn't about "bringing on the end times," it's about preserving our freedom, and spreading it where despots ruled and plotted against us. It's about protecting our citizens here and abroad (like the Federal Government is supposed to do.)
If anything, from the description above, I'd have to say this is about preventing the end, not bringing it on. Of course, the "end times" are not in our control so it would be pretty arrogant to think we could affect it.

James Watt is my grandfather and he never said any such thing. He did mention several times during his times in Reagan's cabinent that we should care for and be steward of the creation God has entrusted us with. But since when has truth mattered to a liberal?
I talked to him today about this article and he said he's glad he still gets under liberals skin 20 years after the fact and is thinking of writing a response to Moyer's drivel. I may need the help of fellow Freepers when he writes it.

the delusional is no longer marginal. It has come in from the fringe I know - and now has this show on PBS that no reasonable person can stomach. But there he is, Bill Moyers, talking his head off, spinning more than Regan in the Exorcist. The fringe calling itself a 'moderate' voice.

I go to church once in a while (mostly to hear my daughter sing) but I don't see how that influences my votes to save traditional America and its families from the athiests, condom throwers, Hollywood drunks, big-government socialists, abortion enthusiasts, welfare mothers who have babies like flies, screeching feminists, permanently oppressed minority "victims", gold-chained union thugs, and all the rest of the weirdos, goofballs, and parasites who make up the Democrat Party.
This old drunk Moyers really needs to fade away now.

Bill Moyers needs to grow up. Heck, we survived Bill Clinton for 8 years and "Jimmuh Catta" for 4. Someone else here said the Michael Savage comment, "liberalism is a mental disease," and I got to agree with that. Either that or maybe he ain't "getting any" from his wife. B-P He needs to see a doctor, that's for sure.
