I pray that our Lord will hold you in the hollow of His hand.

LATEST UPDATE! MORE GOOD NEWS!!!

Thanks to all of your prayers, the Good Lord, Chris' guardian angel, and the miracle workers otherwise known as doctors & nurses at Loma Linda University Medical Center - the news about Chris keeps improving!

I spoke with Melany & Susan this afternoon, and Chris' progress is great! He is out of ICU, is getting out of bed (with a little help) and sitting in a chair, is eating fruit & vegetables, and is starting to joke around with them (a sure sign of Chris returning to normal). They said that he is beginning to understand what happened to him, but as of yet probably doesn't have a firm grasp of exactly how close to the end he really was and how huge the outpouring of love, prayers and support has been. They told him that when he's ready, they will let him read some of the newspaper articles that they've saved along some of these emails (I've printed ALL of the ones on this thread and will personally hand them to Chris or Melany).

The doctors report that the new liver is working nicely and there are no problems with rejection.

I know there are many of you who have commented on the guardian angel pendant that my wife and I gave to Chris, and I have a great story about that from Susan (Chris' mom). The hospital wouldn't allow Melany to pin it on Chris while in the ICU, so they hung it above his bed on a red, white & blue ribbon tied to a vacant IV pole. Evidently this was one of the first things he focused on when he came to, and now he wants it in his sight at all times. They said that when they move it, he demands that it return to his line of sight and he does a sign of the cross when they move it!

To Doug and the rest of you guys going to the Super Bowl/Fund Raiser tomorrow - I'm happy to report that Melany plans on going for a while to get away from the hospital atmosphere and to thank all of the people there to support Chris. Also, she'll be able to mingle a bit with all of Chris' Marine buddies who will be in attendance and thank them for all of the support that they've shown to her & Chris. At least one person from the Twentynine Palms base has been at the hospital since Chris arrived there last week. The battalion commander was right when he said that the Marines look after their own. Praise the Lord.

Wish I could be there with you guys for the benefit, and I will be there in spirit.

Take Care!
