I feel uncomfortable doing this, but I've seen several requests for information regarding those who would like to make a donation. So everyone will know up front, Chris' family DID NOT ask me to provide this information.

There has been a fund set up at a Lake Charles bank (see below) for the 'Chris LeBleu Benefit Fund'. Chris' recovery will require he and Melany to remain in Loma Linda for at least 3-4 months while undergoing tests, observation, physical therapy, etc. They still have an apartment and related expenses in Twentynine Palms, while also staying in an apartment close to the Loma Linda University Medical Center. Incidental expenses include an incredible increase in Melany's cell phone usage so that she can keep the hundreds, if not thousands, of family, friends and other well-wishers informed of Chris' progress. As you can imagine, the salary of a Lance Corporal doesn't take too long to be stretched pretty thin. I've witnessed those in Chris' Marine Corp "family" offer up their last $20 - $30 days before their next pay day for Melany & Chris to use for mounting expenses. Needless to say, the salary of a Lance Corporal doesn't take too long to be stretched very thin. That's why some close friends of the family saw to it that this fund was established. I also understand that a fund has been set up at the Twentynine Palms Base for the same purpose. Any donation, from $1 to whatever you are comfortable with, will be greatly appreciated. ALL monies left over from meeting Chris & Melany's immediate and necessary living expenses (nothing frivolous, I guarantee) will be donated to the Loma Linda University Medical Center's Transplant Unit. (This is straight from Chris' stepdad.)

I repeat that this message was not at the request of the family. I thought it was necessary because I have had many requests from my friends and family as to how they could direct a small donation to the LeBleu family. My hope and prayer is that this information is not taken as a "request" for money or tarnish anyone's view of what this family is all about. I can assure you that the extended family and friends of this young couple will see to it that they have what they need because they mean that much to us. But I've also discovered during this ordeal that there are many, many caring people across this nation that have been completely "absorbed" by this story as if these young people were their own son, daughter or friends. I also can assure everyone that all of the expressions of concern and thoughts and prayers are truly appreciated by EVERYONE personally associated with this family. I guess what I'm trying to say here is that if anyone finds fault in this message, it is strictly my own fault.

Thanks to everyone who sees it for what it is - a way for anyone who wishes to feel "connected" in a small way to this wonderful couple.

God bless all of you who have kept Chris, Melany and their families in their thoughts and prayers.

Mike, you are talking to the FReepers. There is no need to feel uncomfortable about asking for help for them. We welcome this kind of opportunity. Unlike those who hate America but enjoy its benefits, we know that freedom isn't free. It is all the guys like Chris and wives like Melany that allow us to sit at home in safety and enjoy our daily lives.

Okay, FReepers, you know what to do.

FREEPERS --- who has a contact with a cell phone carrier that will donate 4 months of usage?

What are the other needs, Mike? If they need things like a rental car, there must be a local businessman who can help. What local restaurants want to provide some meals?

Uncleshag -- as we had been discussing, this is the kind of thing that deserves some of the proceeds of the parody CD -- YOU'VE BEEN FREEPED, Vol. 1. This is perfect. Of course, we are presuming that people are actually going to buy it. :)

Help! :-) I looked below (as you suggested) but didn't see a mailing address!

Thanks for your efforts (both you and DougfromUpland) to inform us as to how we can help from afar and support the LeBleu's.
