I've had both, fresh water is too easy, I had Oscars that ate anything, including the Plecostomus.

As for salt, its tough here in AZ, because of the summer heat to keep the water cool, but I always had problems with my 55 gal. I once had a grouper that ate a wrasse that was 2/3rd his size, he had its tail sticking out of his mouth for a day.

I don't have room for a salt tank now, but I will get a 100 gal with a wet/dry when I do. Its gratifying to see all the fish I killed in their natural environment, Iv've seen almost everything diving except for blue tangs. And I got nailed by a lion fish once, that hurt!

Right now I own... 25 bettas. I had the breeding bug... but I quickly found out that with too many fish you stop "loving" them... they become a commodity. Used to have guppies and a snail and don't know what else in a community tank.

We had a saltwater aquarium, but that doesn't count for experience as my dad took care of it... looking back, I can shudder at all the mistakes in stocking he made.

AZ heat, it must've been tough... you would need a chiller for anything but the toughest fish... and we all know how much chillers cost. You can save off the humidity loss by kpouring in tap water up to the fill line everyday (treated to remove chemicals, of course).

I encourage you to do some reading at http://www.wetwebmedia.com ... they've made revolutionary advancements since wet/dry in the last few years (5 or so). How are you thinking to stock your 100 gallon?

How tragic, and at the same time funny imagery... :-) If it makes you feel better, it's not as if statistically the fish you killed would've lived in the reef environment for long anyway... it's a eat or die setup there.

You'll find "Dory" sooner or later I'm sure! If I could go scuba-diving, out of the non-aquarium species, I think what I'd like to see the most are sea moths (really freaky relative of pipefish).

I went diving in the Bahamas once with the family and that's it... I was with my brother... he pointed out how we were surrounded by almost invisible jellyfish-like bubbles (comb jellies?). They were about the size of a quarter, transculent, and had a slight rainbow shimmer. I admired them... then my brother began popping them with his forefingers & thumbs with both hands! Nearly strangled him!
