ZAKOPANE, Poland - Adam Malysz of Poland won a ski jump on a large hill Sunday, followed by overall World Cup leader Janne Ahonen of Finland.
Malysz, second in the standings, recorded his fourth victory of the season. Roar Ljoekelsoey of Norway finished third.
Malysz totaled 278.2 points for two jumps of 132 meters. Ahonen finished with 270.9 points and jumps of 128.5 and 132 meters. Ljoekelsoey had 268.7 points and jumps of 127.5 and 131.5.
Ahonen leads the World Cup standings with 1,526 points, followed by Malysz (994) and Jakub Janda of the Czech Republic (979).
Other team mates of Malysz are not necessarily worthless, perhaps they have not yet reached their peak performance.
We must have better general ski-jumping system, it isnt surprise me at all that Kuttin isnt able to create good team. Malysz is world class, Mateja improved in this season but he is old and average right now. Most of the team is very young and isnt not ready for World Cups but they have some perspectives. Look for young Fins and Austrians, they jumped well one season and now completely forget how to jump, something similar like with Malysz in the beginning of his carrier. IMO for average team we must wait at least 4 years, with foreign trainer of course! There was more than 10C in Zakopane today, that is why spectators jumped with so high vigor all the time during the competition. hehe
