One of my posts in Thread 1:

the miserable b*stards at DU are rooting for violence here. and they're not even being slightly coy about it.

the posts from "sweetbutterfly" hoping for high turnout with no violence have been deleted, and apparently she hasn't been merely banned, her profile has been erased.

treason seems to be the officially sanctioned position of DUh.

Even the posts that remain over there were hoping for abject cowardice on the part of the Iraqi people. They were sorely disappointed.

Holy cow! I read that thread- I was amazed! What hate for the Iraqis! And such blatant hope that the election was going to fail! My GOD!

I'm listening to these election stories and thinking that it's making DU'ers look like they complete whining idiots they are. Iraqis are literally risking their lives by going to vote. For security, no cars are allowed in Baghdad, so people are walking for miles to get the opportunity to vote. One man pushed his 90 year old grandmother in a wheelbarrow so she could vote. One guy said that if he died while voting, it was the best way he could imagine to die. They are reaching the same or greater voter turnout as the US, and we aren't told that we will die if we vote.

And the DU'ers b**** about standing in line in the rain. And that blacks were disenfranchised because a cop may be standing at the polling place. And ballots are "too confusing".

How do you get this crazy? From Dummies Underground:
If every Iraqi voted, it still wouldn't be a legitimate election, because it is being held under occupation (or, if you prefer, "sovereign government" repression) and therefore it is being held under coercion. And even if the election was legitimate, the government resulting would be forced to bend knee to US power anyway, because of US domination of Iraq's economy and the continued US military presence. This is not "democracy." This is imperial rule.
