Emergency Evacuation at ORNL
Fifteen workers were evacuated from a building on the ORNL Reservation.
WVLT Volunteer TV's Eric Waddell has been in Oak Ridge all day and has the latest on whats going on.
Building 7920 on the grounds of Oak Ridge National Lab was evacuated just moments before eleven this morning because of a radiation leak.
15 people were escorted out of the building.
ORNL officials say there wasn't any contamination to personnel and no apparent release that would affect the environment. The area was evacuated in two steps: the building, and then surrounding buildings.
Now they're trying to figure out what happened. A
at this time, all the buildings in the 7900 section of ORNL remains shut down, including the nearby nuclear reactor known as HIFER.
