"I was hoping FOX would have someone else other than Rita Cosby covering the Iraq elections. Seems like she makes this more of a soap opera than an election. MHO."

Rita's all about Rita.

They have to strike early to kill any momentum. Many suicides today. I'll guess a dozen today.

Iraqis can't lose their nerve. Scared ones should vote later in the day,if necessary. IMO

I have this sick feeling these muslim anti-freedom haters have some sort of a coordinated attack planned at polling locations, 9-11 style.

This is their chance to conduct what they see as their Tet Offensive. My best friend is guarding a polling station in Baghdad today. He knows darn well you are not supposed to volunteer for anything in the Army, but he volunteered to go to a polling station today. Going to be a long couple of days for me.

If someone farts in an empty container and creates noise it will be reported by the DLM (Defeated Liberal Media) as an explosion.

The story that will be reported by the DLM is how many explosions occurred and they will report this as a historical day in the life of Iraqis who are going to vote in the first time in their long history of 7 thousand years.

Notice how ALL the news crews are at "troubled locations?" Geraldo was so excited earlier when he heard a "boom." He stopped the interview because he heard A BOOM in BAGHDAD!!! He almost pee'ed on himself.

Remember what drives TV news:

VIOLENCE + SCANDAL = Ratings = New BMWS for the whole news team.

"Fox News (TV): AP is reporting 8 explosions in the last 45 mins.. 1 Iraq Police dead, 2 US Wounded."

Did you get that from the crawler? I think they're talking about what happened yesterday. The people running these crwlers are pretty slow and stupid. That goes for all networks. Their job is to incite panic so that you'll be watching during the next commercial.

Well you know what they say, no news is good news which means news is probably bad news. I still think there's going to be a minimum amount of violence today. I could be terribly wrong, I hope, it's just bad military tactics to attack when and where your enemy expects you to.

Attacks on polling stations were reported in at least eight cities from Dohuk in the far north to Basra in the south.

This according to MSNBC.com

but he volunteered to go to a polling station today.

Prayers sent. I hope your friend brags about it when he gets back.  We're a little short on heroes these days.

Geraldo is giving the blow by blow on the live elections report...I really like his enthusiasm, he's so goofy he's great..and of course, there's always his hair..always a surprise.

Seriously, they just reported that the Iraqi police and what military they have all showed up today to protect the polling places and we are letting THEM do the protecting of "their" polling places.Good idea. Geraldo also had an Iraqi man on who was voting and he said no terrorist is going to stop him.

this is very heartening.

Let Freedom RING!!! God Bless those IRAQI's that know Freedom isn't Free. Their sacrifice will not be in vain.

Loosening the shackles of bondage is not easy but imminently worth it!

Your friend is simply awesome. His courage and self-sacrifice is what makes this country one of a kind. I, like many others are rooting for him. May his hours on patrol go by swiftly and safely. Tell him thank you for me. And may the hours go by quickly for you too.
