Whe Bush announced the plan for early elections in Iraq, I thoguth he had screwed the pooch..that he was giving in to his incessant Dem critics. I figured it would take 5 years to pacify and de-Baatisize the country, and restore some services..otherwise we'd end up with another a failed country. I believed the Iraqis could pull it off..just not this soon.. I wonder if Bushg knew about Allawi back then. The guy's been magnificent..he's amde it possible. I don't think we yetknow 5% of what he's managed to accomplish..
Yes, Allawi appears to be a good and fair-minded leader. I'm sure there's more trouble ahead, but Iraq getting a constitution and holding the first truly democratic vote is a wonderful thing.
I believe history will record GWB as the visionary that first brought peace to the middle east.....and like Truman, will be more famous and revered the further away we move from his presidency
