[India News]: New Delhi, Jan 29 : India and Russia have agreed to work for a "more cooperative, consensual and a multi-polar security order".
During their bilateral consultations on strategic stability and disarmament, the two sides affirmed their commitment to further develop and enhance their bilateral strategic partnership.
During the talks held here Friday, the two sides exchanged perceptions and assessments on regional and international security issues.
"They agreed on the need for working towards the goal of a more cooperative, consensual and a multi-polar security order," said a statement issued by the external affairs ministry Saturday.
While the Indian delegation to the talks was led by Meera Shankar, additional secretary in the external affairs ministry, the Russian team was headed by Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Kislyak.
The two delegations comprised representatives of the foreign ministry and other concerned ministries.
The two sides decided to continue the dialogue, with Russians offering to host the next round of talks in Moscow.
The Russian official called on Foreign Secretary Shyam Saran during his stay here.
What on earth are they "securing"? Vodka? Too-hot food which disguises bad food? Crumbling buildings?
India is a third world sewer with way too many people. Russia is a former second world super power TRYING to recover from the devastation of 80 years of communism.
Now TRADE, building plants, factories, all industries...YES, I can see them discussing that. But "multi-polar security order"? NONSENSE.
There was a "multi polar security order" right before The Great War...
This quote wasn't mine, but it's nice to know what they mean by the term. It wasn't clear in the article.
To which "Great War" are you referring?
Only real old people would know that "The Great War" went from 1914 to 1918. World War II went from ~1939 to 1945. Prior to 1939, World War I was known as "The Great War". Here are some references:

The last contains a summary of the "multi polar" situation prior the the war.
I knew that. I was only wondering if that's what you really meant. I am fairly advanced in age myself.
Are you THAT old? Or are you just a WWI buff?
I didn't look at any of the links. I am not interested. But thanks for thinking of me.
Just a history buff in general.
